Welcome to theNetscape Messenger 4.78 and Below Email Troubleshooting Page.  This is only for NISHANET subscribers.

I. How do I set up my email in Netscape Messenger 4.78?

1. Instructions:
   1. First, open Netscape Messenger by either clicking on the Netscape Mssenger icon next to your Start button, or click on Start->Programs->Netscape Communicator->Netscape Messenger.
   2. It should open a Profile Wizard., in the first box type in your name, this is what will be displayed to others when they receive an email from you.
   3. In the Email address box, enter your email address. i.e. username@nishanet.com Click NEXT
   4. In the Name Box up top, type in anything you want, this is just for Netscape Software Profile Managing purposes. Leave the bottom box alone. Click NEXT
   5. In the Outgoing Mail Server box, type in the mail server as given to you when you signed up. Click NEXT
   6. In the Mail server username box, type in everything before the @nishanet.com part of your email address. i.e. for user@nishanet.com the username would be user.
   7. For the incoming mail server box, type in the mail server as given to you when you signed up.
   8. Make sure POP3 IS selected and NOT IMAP.
   9. Click FINISH!!!
   
   1. If the profile wizard does NOT come up, then click on Edit-> Preferences-> Mail & Newsgroups
   2. Click on Identity
   3. In the Name box, type in your name or anything you want, this is what will be displayed when someone receives an email from you.
   4. In the email address box type in your email address. i.e. username@nishanet.com
   5. Make sure all other boxes are blank.
   6. Click on Mail Servers.
   7. If there are any servers there in the box, highlight them and press delete.  Then press Add. A window should pop up.
   8. Make Sure the dropdown menu next to Server Type says POP3
   9. In the Server Name box, type in the mail server name as given to you when you signed up.
   10. In the user name box, type in everything before the @nishanet.com of your email address. i.e. username@nishanet.com would be username. Click OK
   11. In the outgoing mail server box type in the mail server name as given to you when you signed up.
   12. In the user name box, type in everything before the @nishanet.com of your email address i.e. username@nishanet.com would be username.
   13. Make sure Never is selected.
   14. Click OK!!!
